Our Vision:
The purpose of the Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Forum is to ensure Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath is a unique place to live, work, play and enjoy spending time in for our residents, businesses and visitors.
We aim to do this through promoting and endorsing the policies and processes in the approved Neighbourhood Plan that seek to bring a high quality of life for all residents, in an environment where new residents are welcomed, people feel safe and have a sense of pride in both place and community. We also work with key stakeholders in our community to ensure KDBH has a vibrant local economy.
None of our three villages has ever had a Parish Council. In this case, the law allows residents in an Area to set up a Neighbourhood Forum specifically to create a Neighbourhood Plan. This is what we in Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath did in 2015, based on a formal resident consultation and agreed with Solihull Council.
Our Aims are:
- To promote for the public benefit, high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting the Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Area.
- The protection, preservation, improvement and revitalisation of the natural and built environment in or affecting the Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath Neighbourhood Area.
- To promote sustainable development for the public benefit by:
- the preservation, conservation and protection of the environment and the prudent use of resources;
- the promotion of sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration.
Our role in the community is:
- To report and respond on larger scale planning applications in conjunction other local bodies
- To deal with local plan review
- To monitor the effectiveness of the current Neighbourhood Plan
- To coordinate, communicate and make recommendations regarding NCIL community funding as well as encouragement of longer-term strategy on investing NCIL funding on community projects
- To facilitate the delivery of community actions within the existing Neighbourhood Plan by working with stakeholders
